Santa visited Van Buren #3996 on Sunday, December 17, 2017 and what a fun time everyone had. A big thank you to the Auxiliary for all their hard work in making the afternoon possible. The kids made ornaments, decorated cookies and enjoyed pizza, but Santa was the best part of all, and he brought presents for everyone! Thank you, Santa. Enjoy the photo slideshow!

What a fun evening everyone had at our Adult Christmas Party on Friday, December 15, 2017! The evening started off with a pot luck dinner. It was more like a banquet! The variety and quality of food was outstanding. Following dinner we held our White Elephant gift exchange, which is always lots of fun. This year people kept stealing an interesting hotdog toaster that apparently no one expects Santa to bring them. We ended the evening with karaoke hosted by Whitey, and Keith Bruder led us all in a "12 Days of Christmas" sing along. Enjoy the pictures from the evening and Merry Christmas to all! At our Christmas party on December 15, 2017, our Eagle Honor Quilters presented veteran George Craven with a beautiful quilt made by Dianne Smith. It was a labor of love! Thank you, George, for your service to our country in both the Army and Navy. Thank you also to Dianne and our Honor Quilters for your hard work on behalf of our #3996 veterans. Our Aerie held its first ever "All You Can Eat" soup bar on Friday, December 1, 2017, with all proceeds benefiting our building fund. Our furnace needed some very expensive repairs, and our members stepped up big time to help out. The repairs were made and our building is toasty warm now, just in the knick of time! The soup bar offered five delicious soups: Ultimate Ham and Bean, Sunshine Chicken, Loaded Baked Potato, Home Style Chicken Noodle and One Alarm Chili. In addition, we had an assortment of crackers, breads, muffins, and soup/chili toppings. Thank you to everyone who helped make the evening a success. We appreciate you and your "People Helping People" attitude. Our REAC group kicked off the holiday season with their Christmas dinner on December 5, 2017, and comments from their members declared it, "The nicest dinner we've ever had." It was so nice because this group is caring and loving. Nancy Fruit willingly offered to prepare the yummy dinner, and Pam Hixon made all the delicious appetizers. Everyone enjoyed the spirit of the holiday and the camaraderie they shared with one another. If you're retired and haven't joined our REAC group, you're missing out on the fun. Check them out; they meet the first Tuesday of each month at 6:30 pm. They'd love to have you join them. Thank you, Sue DeLongchamp, for snapping the photos, great job! |
